Explosion box tutorial

Hello Friends

First of all Merry Christmas to all of you. Hope you all are enjoying. Winters are here and so the Santa Claus. Today I am going to share two tutorials in one post yes you read it right. So lets move on to tutorials without wasting time.

Tutorial one: Explosion box.

Explosion boxes are always lovely and believe me they are pretty easy to make. Take one 12*12 inch cardstock and one 11.5*11.5 inch cardstock. Score both the cardstock at 4 inches on all four sides. Here is the pic.

Cut the four corners and it will look something like a cross.

Now decorate the panels as you like and assemble.

Now for the lid of the box take 7.1*7.1 inch cardstock and score it at 1.5 inch on all four sides. It will look like this.

Make a perpendicular cut on each corner and paste with the glue to the other side. This will form the lid of the box. And decorate the lid with pattern papers, flowers and other embellishments as you wish.

Tutorial Two: How to put popping out butterflies in the explosion box.
As I get frequent request as to share the tutorial on how I put butterflies on the explosion box.

Cut strips of acetate sheet or some stern plastic in the shape shown below.
Now shape them in Z shape. like this.

Now make a cut diagonally on all four corners of the top panel of (yellow in tutorial) explosion box.
Now just inset the Z shaped acetate strips and add a drop of glue at the backend. It will look like this if you turn it's back side
The acetate strips will pop out in this way.
Now stick the butterflies to the top of acetate strips. and assemble your explosion panels. And finally assembled box will look in this manner.

Hope these tutorial help you. Do let us know in case you have any queries.

Shilpi

Shabby Chic Card

Hello Friends
How are you all doing? Today I am going to share a card which is not my style - Shabby Chic. I usually use bold colors and this time I had to use pastel shades , well thats a big challenge for me. But I like challenges so I loved making it and the way it turned out. OKAY!!! Enough of self praising now. Let me show you the card itself and then you can decide how it looks.

Here are shots of card.

Did You check the flowers. These are super easy quick flowers using Nelli Snellen punches.

Check the ribbon bow. Isn't it cute?

I have used Spellbinders Dies ...Oh did I mention this die is an example of AWESOMENESS....your whole background is done with just this 1 die...I so love it... and  the next are Nellie Snellen Punches from our very own store DCAM, these punches are perfect for those quick hassle free  and most inexpensive flowers... I have added a pink lace and a ribbon bow.The sentiment is stamped using memento ink pad. Few punched flowers and pearls added to the beauty of the card.

Hope you all like it. Please leave us some love.

Hugs,
Shilpi

Faber Castell Gelatos- Reviews

Hello Friends

How are you all doing? Have you participated in DCAM shabby chic challenge? If not then hurry up..you never know you can be the lucky winner.

Today I will be sharing product review and techniques of Faber castell Gelatos. Believe me you will fall in love with this product over and over again. It is so versatile.

Gelatos are creamy rich colors and blend smoothly with or without water.Gelatos can be used on any surface paper, chipboard, cork, canvas. The color glides on smooothly onto the papers and can be dissolved with water to giver watercolor effects. They are acid free and odorless.

Gelatos can be used in diffrent ways to create number of effects. This is a picture heavy post so catch ur cup of coffee and sit back relaxing.

Techniques:

1. Gelatos directly on paper. Here I have made this card by applying gelatos directly onto paper and blending with finger. See how beautifully it blended.

2. Gelatos with water. I created this background by directly applying gelatos onto the paper and blending with finger and then spritzed the tag with water. It reacted with water and gave a translucent effect.

3. Gelatos with heat embossed backgrounds. Now this one is my favourite technique as you can see how the designed got enhanced. I directly applied gelatos onto the heat embossed surface and rubbed with finger. removed excess off with tissue paper and tadaaa the background is ready to use.

I have used metallic gelatos for this tag. Can you see the shimmer. I know camera couldn't capture the true shimmer but in person its looking awesome.

4. Gelatos on dry embossed backgrounds. Now here is a trick. I glided gelatos on the reverse side of embossed tag and as you can see the design is clearly visible giving a perfect look for background.

5. Stamping with Gelatos. I directly applied gelatos to the stamp and slightly sprintzed with water and stamped it. nd it is giving a watercolor effect.

6. Watercoloring with gelatos. I have stamped this Prima doll and heat embossed it. Applied a very small amount of gelatos with my waterbrush and starting coloring same the way we did in our arts classes in schools.

7. Making own Flowers with Gelatos. I have stamped and heat embossed the flower with black embossing powder. and colored it with gelatos and added few liquid pearls in the center. See how vibrant it turned out.

And here is a complete tag. Did you check the awesome background and the colored doll?

So now as you see gelatos can be used in different ways, friends get your pack of gelatos and let your creative juices flow. these are available in custom pack of 4 gelatos and a complete set of 36 gelatos.

Hope this information helps you. If more info is needed pls leave comments and we will be more than happy to answer.

Shilpi
